Happy Republic Day

We celebrated the 102nd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye at the Turkish House in New York, hosted by the Republic of Türkiye’s Consul General in New York, Mr. Ahmet Yazal, and Mrs. Yazal, with the participation of TAMA Board members.

This milestone marks the founding of modern Türkiye on October 29, 1923, when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk proclaimed the Republic following the Turkish War of Independence.

The establishment of the Republic ushered in sweeping reforms—secular governance, women’s suffrage, adoption of the Latin alphabet, and industrialization—that transformed Türkiye into a sovereign, forward-looking nation-state.
