Murat Karatepe

Dr. Murat Karatepe is an Invasive Cardiologist, and the founder of Ocean Cardiovascular Specialists in Toms River, NJ.

Dr. Karatepe started his medical journey at Istanbul University in 1983. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in 1989, he decided to pursue his education in The United States.

Dr. Karatepe completed his training in Internal Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, NY in 1995. During the next three years, he gained vast experience as an Attending Physician in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Stone County Hospital in Wiggins, Mississippi. Dr. Karatepe furthered his career in medicine by Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Lenox Hill Hospital from 1998 till 2001. During his time at Lenox Hill, he had the opportunity to be part of world-renowned clinical cardiology and interventional cardiology research teams. He excelled in cardiac imaging modalities including invasive angiography, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac computed tomography.

Dr. Karatepe founded his private practice in Toms River, NJ in 2004. Since then, he has been practicing office-based cardiology in a patient centered, comprehensive way ranging from preventive cardiology to complex coronary artery diseases, cardiomyopathies, and valvular diseases. One of his main focuses in practice is helping his patients make life style changes that improve heart health and longevity. Dr. Karatepe is affiliated with RWJ-St Barnabas, Community Medical Center where he has been very active.

Dr. Karatepe is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. He is a member of American College of Cardiology, American Society of Echocardiography, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and Turkish American Medical Association.

Outside of his clinical and administrative responsibilities, Dr. Karatepe enjoys reading in business and economy, traveling, cycling, hiking and most notably spending quality time with his family.
